You can almost feel the life and the hope that comes with the promise of Easter. There is an obvious change of mood and our outlook takes on an optimistic tone. It is something about new life, of life that triumphs over death. We see that in nature, in new beginnings and everywhere there is an awakening.
During these days of Holy Week, we have reflected upon those most profound and poignant moments in the life of Jesus. Holy Week is a time apart, as we ponder, reflect and pray, recalling the life, suffering and death of Jesus upon the cross. However, as Easter Sunday dawns, resurrection becomes our hope, the hope that saves.
St. Paul tells us
“that hope does not disappoint us, because God’s love has been poured into our hearts.” (Rom 5:5)
And so, the prayer of Easter, our Christian prayer becomes:
“let us hold fast the confession of one hope without wavering, for he who promised is faithful” (Heb 10:23)
This Eastertime I want to thank you: for your faithfulness, your commitment, your
care and concern for our three parishes, your generosity to us, the priests of the
parish, your volunteerism and your willingness to ‘roll up the sleeves’ whenever
and wherever the need arises.
Our parish is built upon
your involvement,
your participation,
your generous ministry.
All we can say is ‘thank you’!
And, of course, … Happy Easter!
